AI Policy

AI tools can be employed in facilitating the development of explanatory images, including schematic illustrations, conceptual diagrams, and flow charts.

When the output is directly derived from the underlying data using reproducible analytical, computational, or statistical methods, AI tools may be employed to generate data visualizations (such as charts, plots, or graphs).

AI tools must not be utilized to generate or modify images that represent primary observed or experimental data. This encompasses modifications to color balance, contrast, or luminance, which should be implemented exclusively through conventional image processing software.

This policy does not prohibit the utilization of AI tools in formal research design or research methods, such as AI-assisted imaging approaches for the collection and interpretation of the underlying research data or predictive modeling of clinical outcomes based on collected data.

Authors are fully responsible for the originality and accuracy of all images submitted. When authors provide images in the manuscript that utilize generative AI tools, they must include this information in the caption of each image.
